2013 The weather was awesome, the food was great and the race sold out! We had an amazing down to the wire first place finish and our youngest ever first place win by 13 year old Michaela Jones. I know every year we say “Many thanks to our amazing volunteers and all the runner and walkers”, but seriously it’s true. The success of our race is completely dependent upon efforts of everyone who volunteers or participates. This year was a first with many new volunteers taking on key roles to organize the race. Our success was due to the groundwork laid by previous volunteers. We thank you all!

Fox Point Sunset 5 Mile Road Race 2009 – How we define community spirit.

Tons of energy, hours of planning, gallons of drinking water, boxes of safety pins, bananas, bagels,
and burgers! Each runner setting their goal for their own personal best! And when it’s all said and done,
this competition takes place in less than one hour, for most. All are out to get some exercise, challenge
the body, challenge the mind, shave a few seconds off the mile, receive a prize for their age group, or
maybe become a top finisher.

But without the efforts of few volunteers on race day, this phenomenon would not take place. This
year marks the 8th year that this wonderful group of volunteers has pulled it all together! A small group
of volunteers come to mind, having not missed one race! From that beautiful summer-like day in 2002
with our small field of runners, the Loewy family has been a part of the race day production. Linda has
manned the finish line, timing the runners, and congratulating them for a job well done. Jeff has been
all over the course monitoring and encouraging the runners, calling splits and directing traffic. As
Faith grew older, she has joined her parents and become the smiling face behind runner t shirts and
registrations. It’s so nice every summer to hear from the Loewys – what can we do??? Thank you so
much for all you have done!

An astonishing field of

one runner commented in appreciation of the difficulty. In a change from previous years, the race started
and ended at the Old Town Hall . Many out of town runners and supporters were treated to a first look
at the historic town center. Much thanks to our Premier Sponsor Newington Wal-Mart for their
