Whether you’re an AI researcher or a podcast listener, these podcasts can help you understand the latest developments in artificial intelligence. They range from enthusiastic advocates to critical voices, giving you multiple perspectives on the technology.
The multi-award-winning DeepMind: AI Podcasts Resource Center is a two-season series that explores how artificial intelligence is changing our world. It features world-leading scientists and thinkers (many speaking publicly for the first time) as they explain the foundations of AI, discuss its challenges, and dive into groundbreaking research.
AI Podcasts Resource Center: Stay Ahead of the Digital Curve
Launched with little fanfare in September, Google’s NotebookLM feature triggered a flurry of hyped headlines (“Has AI Just KILLED the Podcast?” “Google’s NotebookLM Tool Can Now Create a Podcast in Minutes”). The platform can generate remarkably convincing and professional-sounding podcasts based on documents uploaded to the tool. The user can then customize the output through a prompt function to shape the conversation as desired—from demanding that specific words or subjects be excluded to choosing how the AI presenters should react to the content.
The effect is remarkably realistic, even down to the halting language and “ums” and voice intonation that give the recordings a human-like quality. This level of customization makes the podcasts highly valuable for strategic purposes, such as promoting a particular point of view or shaping public perception of an individual—but that also means they can be exploited for malicious intent. In a demonstration published in The Tow Center, we show how easily these tools can be used to subtly mislead audiences.
